Snack Time for Little Ones

Some days, I feel like my kids won’t stop eating. They want a morning snack before breakfast, then breakfast. Then they want a snack before lunch, lunch, then an after lunch snack. Then dinner time comes around, they eat dinner, but want ANOTHER snack. My kids just love to eat, I guess. Because of this, each snack is healthy. Some of my favorite snack ideas are:

  • bananas, cut up
  • apples and peanut butter
  • raisins and other dried fruit
  • carrots with homemade ranch dip
  • cheese and crackers
  • applesauce
  • yogurt with granola and/or fresh fruit
  • frozen blueberry yogurt drops
  • frozen yogurt (literally)
  • smoothies or purees in a reusable pouch
  • toddler, store-bought, pouches
  • homemade muffins
  • celery, cucumber, broccoli or other raw veggie with ranch
  • tortilla chips and salsa or guacamole
  • salads (my kids are weird… they LOVE salad)
  • fruit snack (sometimes. very rare these days, but I’ve found a recipe for homemade fruit snacks!)

I try my best to pump them with the best food, but occasionally they get some potato chips with the hubby. And right now, that’s okay! Everyone can have a cheat day once and a while!! 😉 They love their fruits and veggies though, so its super easy to give those as snacks or surprises. We don’t buy cookies at the store so if they get a treat like that, its because mommy made them so I know what’s in them. Now, do my kids really get 5 snacks a day? Oh heck no! They get maybe one or two depending on their eating habits through the day. If they eat lunch all gone, then if they want a little snack, then yes. If they decide they don’t want to eat lunch, then they won’t get a snack. Simple as that!! 🙂 What are some snacks that you fix for your kids regularly?
