Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to eat for two when you’re pregnant. In fact, you only need around 200-300 extra calories per day.
Pregnant women are advised to take certain supplements, including folic acid, from the beginning of their pregnancy. Folic acid helps to reduce the risk of birth defects, such as spina bifida. You can buy supplements specially designed for pregnancy, which contain a host of different vitamins and minerals.
Exercise is great for pregnant women because it lifts your mood, tackles stress, and keeps you supple. It can also strengthen your core muscles and improve your circulation. Check with your doctor before you exercise, as some activities are not recommended for pregnant women.
